How to Post Your Work in MediaWiki – Learner Guide

This guide shows you exactly how to post your revised message for Module 2 Segment 2. Follow these steps to add your work to the **Ethical Digital Communication Practice Page**.

Step 1: Log In

1. Go to the MediaWiki site for your program.
2. Select Log in (top right corner).
3. Enter your organization's (Ontario Tech or other) credentials.

You must be logged in before you can edit pages.

Step 2: Open the Practice Page

1. Use the search bar at the top right.
2. Type: Ethical Digital Communication
3. Click the page title from the results.

This is where you will add your revised message.

Step 3: Click “Edit”

At the top of the page:

1. Select the Edit tab.
2. The page will open in editing mode.

Do not delete anything already on the page.

Step 4: Add Your Revised Message

Scroll to the bottom of the page. Copy and paste the template below, then replace the placeholder text with your own contribution.

Important:

• Use professional, objective, privacy-safe language.
• Do not include real names, identifiers, or confidential details.
• Use only your first name and last initial.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

1. Scroll to the bottom of the edit window.
2. In the Summary box, type: Added revised message for Segment 2.
3. Click the blue Save changes button.

Your work will now appear on the practice page.

Step 6: Copy Your Link for the Portfolio Companion

1. After saving, scroll to your posted section.
2. Copy the link (URL) from your browser’s address bar.
3. Paste this link into your Portfolio Companion:

• Module 2 → Segment 2 → "Share your MediaWiki post link"

Troubleshooting (Quick Help)

I don’t see the Edit button. Make sure you are logged in. Log out and try again if needed.

I made a mistake. Select View history → choose the correct version → click Undo.

Can I edit my post later? Yes, you may reopen the page and update your contribution.
