How to Post Your Work in MediaWiki – Learner Guide
This guide shows you exactly how to post your revised message for Module 2 Segment 2. Follow these steps to add your work to the **Ethical Digital Communication Practice Page**.
Step 1: Log In
- Go to the MediaWiki site for your program.
- Select Log in (top right corner).
- Enter your organization's (Ontario Tech or other) credentials.
You must be logged in before you can edit pages.
Step 2: Open the Practice Page
- Use the search bar at the top right.
- Type: Ethical Digital Communication
- Click the page title from the results.
This is where you will add your revised message.
Step 3: Click “Edit”
At the top of the page:
- Select the Edit tab.
- The page will open in editing mode.
Do not delete anything already on the page.
Step 4: Add Your Revised Message
Scroll to the bottom of the page. Copy and paste the template below, then replace the placeholder text with your own contribution.

Important:
- Use professional, objective, privacy-safe language.
- Do not include real names, identifiers, or confidential details.
- Use only your first name and last initial.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
- Scroll to the bottom of the edit window.
- In the Summary box, type: Added revised message for Segment 2.
- Click the blue Save changes button.
Your work will now appear on the practice page.
Step 6: Copy Your Link for the Portfolio Companion
- After saving, scroll to your posted section.
- Copy the link (URL) from your browser’s address bar.
- Paste this link into your Portfolio Companion:
- Module 2 → Segment 2 → "Share your MediaWiki post link"
Troubleshooting (Quick Help)
I don’t see the Edit button. Make sure you are logged in. Log out and try again if needed.
I made a mistake. Select View history → choose the correct version → click Undo.
Can I edit my post later? Yes, you may reopen the page and update your contribution.
